Cantiliver actuators

InSensor® is a producer of PZT thick film based cantilever actuators on a variety of substrates. The basic structure of the devices consists of a substrate, bottom electrode, PZT thick film and top electrode.

Generic structure of a cantilever

The basic properties of the presented actuators are as follows:

  • Dimensions (active part): 25.0 x 3.0 x 0.2 mm3
  • Resonance frequency: 310 Hz
  • Displacement of the tip ouside the resonance frequency: 1 um/1 V
  • Maximal driving voltage: 100 V
  • Displacement of the tip at resonance (Upp = 60 V): 2 mm

The video given below shows the working actuator, driven at Upp = 60 V, square. The frequency is swept from 1 to 10 Hz (in cooperation with DTU Nanotech, Denmark).
